The Indonesian government has reaffirmed its ambition to accelerate the development of solar energy across the country. In a report published by kumparanBISNIS on 15 August 2026, President Prabowo Subianto stated a target to develop 30 gigawatts (GW) of solar power capacity in 2026, as part of a broader plan to accelerate solar power development toward 100 GW.
The plan also includes the early retirement of 13 GW of diesel-fired power plants (PLTD) in 2026, with solar power expected to become one of the replacement sources. The direction highlights the growing role of renewable energy, particularly solar power, in Indonesia’s future electricity mix.
New Momentum for Indonesia’s Solar PV Industry
The target is expected not only to create demand for additional generation capacity, but also to support growth across the wider solar industry ecosystem—from solar modules and cells, inverters and mounting systems to PV components, energy storage systems, and supporting technologies and services.
As demand for solar PV technologies and solutions continues to grow, collaboration among manufacturers, distributors, project developers, EPC companies, investors, government institutions, industry associations, and technology providers will become increasingly important to accelerate solar energy deployment in Indonesia.
Solartech Indonesia 2027: Connecting the Solar PV Ecosystem
Against this backdrop, Solartech Indonesia 2027 will once again serve as a meeting platform for the solar PV and energy storage industries in Indonesia. The 12th edition will take place on 21–23 April 2027 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, organized by GEM Indonesia.
Solartech Indonesia 2027 will showcase a wide range of solar PV solutions and technologies, including solar modules, PV components, materials, solar power systems and applications, as well as energy storage technologies. The exhibition will also be held alongside related technology exhibitions, creating a more integrated industry ecosystem.
For industry stakeholders, Indonesia’s solar power growth presents opportunities to expand business networks, showcase new technologies, identify strategic partners, and gain insights into the renewable energy market in Indonesia and the wider ASEAN region.
